3-Metre option joins T7 HD range

New Holland has once again shown its ability to listen to the market with the introduction of a new 3-metre centre option for its T7 Heavy Duty tractor range across Australia and New Zealand, answering a growing demand from broadacre, cotton and horticultural producers who are committed to Controlled Traffic Farming systems. The development represents more than a technical adjustment, it is a direct response to farmers who want to align their high-horsepower tractors with fixed tramline operations while retaining the power, comfort and technology that the T7 HD series is known for.

For contractors and farmers who operate within tight tramline systems, the ability to match a 3-metre wheel track without modification is significant. It brings the T7 HD into a space that was previously difficult to access without aftermarket engineering, and it ensures that the tractor can slot seamlessly into Controlled Traffic Farming operations that rely on precision and consistency year after year.

Controlled Traffic Farming, or CTF, has been widely adopted across the broadacre and cotton sectors because it reduces soil compaction by confining all heavy machinery to permanent wheel tracks. Over time this protects soil structure, improves water infiltration and enhances yield potential across the cropped area. But until now, growers wanting to operate within a strict 3-metre system have faced a choice between smaller tractors suited to the width or larger machines that required axle alterations and risked warranty implications. New Holland’s new 3-metre centre configuration changes that equation completely.

Cameron Jordan, Dealer Principal at McIntosh & Son Dalby, says the factory-built option reflects the realities of farming in his part of the world where soil type and management systems make Controlled Traffic Farming almost universal.

“The soil structure across large parts of our operating area means adherence to CTF practices is often very strict and almost all of our broadacre customers are operating on dedicated 3-metre centres,” he says. “This new offering from New Holland gives them the ability to stay within their CTF systems while stepping into the performance and reliability of the T7 HD range. With full factory warranty now available on the T7 HD range, we’re excited to offer this model to more customers, giving them more operational flexibility and choice.”

That focus on flexibility is at the heart of the T7 HD story. Designed and built at New Holland’s St Valentin plant in Austria, the T7 HD range extends from 270 horsepower right through to 340 horsepower, combining serious performance with a level of comfort and refinement that places it among the most advanced tractors in its class. The new 3-metre centre option means the same heavy-duty chassis, engine and transmission combination can now serve both traditional broadacre work and the growing cohort of farmers committed to CTF. For New Zealand operators, it brings clear benefits in regions where precision agriculture is expanding and where heavy soils or sensitive land classes make soil preservation a constant priority.

At its core, the T7 HD has always been a tractor built to work hard while keeping the operator comfortable and in control. The Horizon Ultra cab remains one of the quietest and most spacious cabs in the industry, offering excellent visibility and a working environment that reduces fatigue during long days in the field. The intuitive IntelliView 12-inch monitor sits at the centre of a fully integrated precision-farming system allowing operators to manage guidance, implement control and data capture from one easy-to-use interface. The system is fully compatible with New Holland’s FieldOps digital platform which allows fleet monitoring, job planning and performance tracking from anywhere ensuring that machinery management becomes part of the overall farm-management workflow rather than a separate task.

In the paddock, the T7 HD’s Auto Command continuously variable transmission delivers smooth and efficient power transfer, allowing the tractor to handle a wide range of operations from tillage and planting to spraying and transport. The 340 horsepower model provides the muscle to manage large implements and long working days without compromising on fuel economy or traction. A 750-hour service interval, among the longest in the industry means contractors can spend more time working and less time in the workshop-a practical advantage that matters during the busiest seasons.

From a technical perspective, the 3-metre centre option has been engineered to factory standards not as a retrofit. That means axle integrity, driveline geometry and warranty coverage are all preserved exactly as they would be on the standard configuration. For operators who rely on reliability and uptime, that assurance is critical. It allows them to operate within Controlled Traffic systems, whether three, six or nine metres with full manufacturer support and without the uncertainty of aftermarket modifications.

The T7 HD’s capability extends beyond broadacre work. Its hydraulic capacity and electronic precision make it equally at home in horticultural and mixed-farming systems where the combination of power and finesse is often required. The ability to run high-demand implements, manage hydraulic flow accurately and maintain stable traction across varying soil conditions is what makes the T7 HD such a versatile machine in both New Zealand and Australian conditions.

As Controlled Traffic Farming continues to grow in popularity, equipment manufacturers are being challenged to adapt. New Holland’s decision to offer a 3-metre centre configuration with the fitment of an approved DIA kit, is a clear signal of that adaptability and of its long-term commitment to the region’s farming systems. It ensures that contractors and growers who have invested in tramline infrastructure can integrate new technology without compromise, and it reflects the reality that modern farming demands both precision and productivity in equal measure.

For New Zealand’s larger arable and mixed-cropping businesses, the appeal will be immediate. It means access to the full T7 HD power range, up to 340 horsepower with a warranty-approved configuration that suits established 3-metre CTF systems. It means the comfort and connectivity of the Horizon Ultra cab, the dependability of a proven driveline and the operational efficiency of extended service intervals all working together under one badge. And above all, it means that New Holland has once again listened to what farmers need and delivered a solution designed for the way we farm today.
