Award-winning MF 9S brings proven high horsepower performance to New Zealand
Massey Ferguson has introduced its new MF 9S Series to New Zealand, bringing to the local market a high horse power tractor range that has already earned international recognition for its design, performance and operator comfort.
Developed as the next evolution of the MF 8700 S platform, the MF 9S Series is Massey Ferguson’s new flagship for large-scale farming and professional operations where long working days, heavy draft loads and transport efficiency are critical.
Since its European debut, the MF 9S has received multiple international awards, including the Red Dot Design Award, recognising its engineering, innovation and operator-focused design ahead of its New Zealand arrival.
The MF 9S Series comprises six models from 285hp to 425hp, offering flexibility to match power and specification to demanding applications such as cultivation, forage harvesting and high-capacity transport. All models feature Massey Ferguson’s Protect-U design, which isolates the engine from the cab to reduce noise, heat and vibration while improving visibility—a practical advantage during long days and precision work.
At the heart of the MF 9S Series is a well-proven six-cylinder, 8.4-litre AGCO Power engine. The engine complies with Stage V emissions regulations using a simplified ‘All-in-One’ system that removes the need for an EGR valve, instead relying on a single advanced turbocharger. This streamlined approach reduces complexity and maintenance requirements while maintaining strong performance under sustained load.
Engine Power Management (EPM) is available across the range, providing additional power during PTO and hydraulic applications at transport speeds above 15 km/h. With high torque available at low engine speeds, the MF 9S is designed to maintain productivity in heavy draft conditions without excessive fuel consumption.
The MF 9S comes standard with Dyna-VT continuously variable transmission, giving operators smooth, precise speed control for both fieldwork and transport. Massey Ferguson also highlights a new Automatic Mode, with speed controlled via the MultiPad lever or foot pedal, designed to simplify operation as loads and conditions change.
Fuel capacity has been increased to support extended operating hours, with a 660-litre diesel tank and a 68-litre AdBlue tank enabling long days in the field or on the road without frequent refuelling. The engine is also approved for use with HVO fuel, offering an option to reduce emissions without compromising output.
Cab comfort and usability remain a key focus of the MF 9S Series. The spacious cab, combined with reduced in-cab noise and vibration, is designed to limit operator fatigue during extended shifts. Integrated technology options, including MF Guide, MF AutoTurn and MF Connect, support precision operation and machine monitoring, making the MF 9S well suited to modern farming and contracting businesses working to tight seasonal windows.
For those wanting to experience the MF 9S in real-world conditions, two models, the MF 9S.340 and MF 9S.400, are currently on demonstration in New Zealand. These units allow operators to assess performance, visibility and comfort in their own working environment. Interested buyers can contact their local Massey Ferguson dealer to arrange a demonstration.
The MF 9S Series is now available to order, allowing customers to specify a machine that suits their operation ahead of upcoming seasons. With its combination of high horsepower, proven engineering and operator-focused design, the MF 9S reinforces Massey Ferguson’s commitment to delivering straightforward, dependable machinery for New Zealand’s rural sector.
