Case IH launches next generation Puma series

Case IH has unveiled its fully redesigned next generation Puma series for Australia and New Zealand, introducing the new Puma 155, 165 and 185 models, with improvements focused on manoeuvrability, fuel efficiency, operator comfort and machine connectivity.

Available on the standard wheelbase platform, the new Puma range has been engineered to deliver improved transmission efficiency, helping achieve what Case IH says is best-in-class fuel consumption while maintaining the performance expected from the popular mid-horsepower tractor range.

The new models also bring technology previously reserved for larger horsepower tractors into the Puma platform. Optional ISOBUS and Tractor Implement Management (TIM) compatibility allows seamless communication between tractor and implement, while an expandable electronic architecture provides the hardware, software and connectivity required to support future technology developments as they become available.

Operators also gain access to the latest capabilities of Case IH FieldOps, enabling machine and agronomic data management through a single platform while supporting Connected Services for improved machine monitoring and fleet management.

"These new Puma models now offer all of the technology that previously only the higher horsepower models delivered," says Seamus McCarthy, Case IH product & portfolio manager–Medium tractors for Australia and New Zealand. "So now customers can benefit from exceptional comfort, operational efficiency and performance in a smaller wheelbase machine."

McCarthy says independent testing by DLG recorded fuel consumption of 243 g/kWh, which Case IH says represents best-in-class performance. Combined with the efficiencies delivered by the technology package and extended 750- and 1,500-hour service intervals, he says the tractors offer significant operational savings and a lower overall cost of ownership.

Customers can choose between two transmission options depending on their application. The 3x1 CVXDrive continuously variable transmission is designed to maximise efficiency while simplifying operation and improving traction, while the ActiveDrive 8 dual-clutch transmission delivers uninterrupted torque transfer, rapid shuttle shifts and automated operating functions that help reduce operator fatigue during long working days.

The redesign extends beyond the driveline. A more compact chassis delivers a 20% tighter turning radius, improving manoeuvrability around yards, headlands and confined working areas. A new front axle saddle suspension system improves ride quality, transport stability and roll control, while revised braking performance, updated linkage and hitch systems, together with transmission refinements, contribute to improved drivability and more precise implement control.

Operator comfort has also received considerable attention. The cab features updated interior styling, increased storage capacity, improved access and upgraded displays centred around the new Pro 1200 monitor and redesigned MultiController armrest. Improved cab suspension and the availability of a semi-active seat are designed to reduce operator fatigue during extended operating hours.

Externally, the Puma receives a redesigned bonnet and lighting package that improves forward visibility, while new LED rear fender lights enhance both safety and the tractor's updated styling.

The versatility of the new Puma series makes it suitable across a wide range of farming operations, including livestock, broadacre and vegetable production, while contractors, municipalities and larger fleet operators are also expected to benefit from the combination of performance, efficiency and advanced technology integration.

The updated design has already attracted international recognition, with the Puma series receiving a 2026 Red Dot Design Award for its styling and redesigned cab environment. The Red Dot Awards are recognised globally for excellence in industrial design, innovation and usability.

Orders for the new Puma 155, 165 and 185 models are now available through Case IH dealers across Australia and New Zealand.
